Accessibility
Last updated: July 29, 2026
Most people using this site are older adults or family members helping them, often under real stress. Making it usable is not a formality for us. This page explains what we have done, what we know is still short, and — most importantly — how to get the same help another way if the website itself is in your way.
1. Our commitment
Senior Care Resources LLC is committed to making MedicaidInAMinute.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, magnification, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or other assistive technology, and people who simply need larger text and more contrast.
Nobody should have to be good with computers to find out where their family stands. If the site is a barrier, section 5 tells you how to get the same result over the phone or on paper.
2. The standard we work toward
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the benchmark most commonly referenced for public websites.
We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so we do not claim full conformance. We describe this site as partially conformant: most of it meets the standard, and the places we know fall short are listed in section 4 rather than left for you to discover.
3. What we have done
- Text sized for older eyes. Body text is set at 17px on desktop and 16px on phones, with generous line spacing and no light-weight fonts for running text. Line lengths are capped so text does not stretch across a wide screen.
- Contrast. Text and interface colors are chosen to meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios, including the accent color used on buttons.
- Keyboard access. Menus, buttons, links, the question accordion, and the video dialog can all be operated from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline showing where you are. The video dialog traps focus while open, closes with the Escape key, and returns you to the control you opened it from.
- Structure that assistive technology can follow. Pages use real headings in order, real lists, landmark regions, and buttons that announce what they do. Icons that are decoration are hidden from screen readers; icon-only controls carry a text label.
- Not color alone. Where the sample results panel shows status, it uses a shape and a written note as well as color.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the gentle fade-in on our pages and smooth anchor scrolling are switched off. Nothing on the site flashes, auto-plays, or moves on its own.
- Touch targets. Buttons and the main controls are sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels so they are easier to hit on a phone.
- A skip link. Pressing Tab on arrival offers a “Skip to main content” link, so keyboard and screen-reader users do not have to walk through the header on every page.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout reflows for narrow screens and browser zoom rather than forcing you to scroll sideways.
- Audio has a written equivalent. Where our resources pages offer spoken narration, the same information appears as text on the page — the audio is an alternative, never the only source.
- An alternative to signing by hand. Where a signature is needed, you can type your name and choose a script instead of drawing with a mouse or fingertip.
4. Known limitations
These are the gaps we are aware of today. We would rather name them than let you find them.
- The signed-in intake screens are dense. The portal where you enter income, accounts, and transfers uses compact tables and small type so that long lists fit on one screen. That is harder to read than the public pages, and improving it is on our list. In the meantime, browser zoom works, and the emailed fillable PDF or a phone appointment is a full alternative.
- Downloadable PDFs. Several forms offered here are published by state agencies or generated for your case, and they may not be tagged for screen readers. If you need the content of any form in another format, ask us and we will provide it.
- The anti-bot check. Public forms use a third-party challenge to block automated abuse. It is designed to be accessible, but it is not our software. If it stops you from submitting, call us and we will take your information directly.
- The introductory video is not published yet. When it is, it will be captioned, and we will make a transcript available.
- No independent audit yet. Our review so far has been internal. An outside evaluation would likely find issues we have not.
- Third-party websites. We link to agency and affiliate sites we do not control and cannot speak for their accessibility.
5. If the website is in your way, use us instead
You do not have to use this website to get help. If any part of it is difficult or impossible for you:
- Call us at 239-977-5175 and a person will go through the questions with you over the phone.
- Ask for the form by email or mail. We can send a fillable PDF you can complete at your own pace, and you can return it by email or post rather than uploading it.
- Have someone help you. A family member or representative may complete the screening with you or on your behalf, so long as they have your permission.
None of these routes gets you a lesser result. They reach the same specialists and the same review.
6. Tell us about a problem
If you run into a barrier on this site, we want to hear about it — it is the most reliable way we find out what to fix.
Email intake@seniorcareres.com or call 239-977-5175. If you can, tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser, device, or assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days and will tell you what we can do and when.
If you need the information from a specific page in another format — large print, plain text, or read to you over the phone — ask, and we will provide it at no charge.
7. Browsers and assistive technology
The site is built with current web standards and is intended to work with recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox on computers, tablets, and phones, together with the screen readers and magnification tools those platforms provide. Very old browsers may not render it correctly. If you are using something we have not anticipated and it does not work, please tell us.
8. Keeping this current
We review this statement when we make significant changes to the site, and at least once a year. The date at the top shows when it last changed. As items in section 4 are fixed, they will be removed from that list.
